WOW! This album absolutely blew me away! How is it that I’ve gone all this time and never heard of the jazz trombone musician, Wycliffe Gordon!? I was really impressed when I heard a track from one of his older CDs on WEMU a few weeks ago. But “The Joyride” is absolutely inspired. My jaw hits the floor every time I listen to it.

Did I mention I love WEMU?

Okay, so I didn’t blog it when it happened, but I finally (finally, FINALLY) got cablemodem service at my house. It’s been a long time (since I lived in the dorms) that I’ve survived with the minimum of dialup internet connectivity. Everything’s different now… the sky is bluer, the sunsets are redder, the grass is… well… dead.
I suppose I could be all mushy and credit all that to Marie, but she doesn’t read this log, and hey… I’m a computer nerd, what else would anyone expect?

Yesterday morning, a tow truck slid through the intersection of Willis and Whittaker, hopped the curb, and nosed into the corner store, taking out part of the brick outer wall. The force kicked a pop cooler a few feet into the store and toppled it over. According to the store owner, a woman had just taken a pop out of the cooler and stepped three feet away from it when the truck came through the wall next to her.
